Parents as Teachers
PAT
Welcome to the Panthers PAT Page!
We’re thrilled to have you here on the official Panthers Parent and Teacher (PAT) page! Our PAT organization is dedicated to building a strong partnership between parents, teachers, and staff to enhance the learning experience for every student at our school. Whether you’re looking to get involved, stay informed, or connect with other Panther families, you’re in the right place!
What is PAT?
PAT stands for Parents as Teachers, a program designed to provide support to families throughout pregnancy until their child enters Kindergarten. PAT is FREE to all families in the Sheldon Panthers School District. Services can begin during pregnancy and continue until the child enters kindergarten. Children learn more during their first five years than at any other time in their life, and this program helps parents understand how their child grows and learns.
Services Offered
-
Personal Visits: Educators trained in child development offer suggestions for learning activities. The number of visits varies family to family.
-
Developmental Screenings: A summary of your child's development, focusing on language, cognitive, motor, and social skills. Health, hearing, and vision are also screened. Screenings are offered for children 3 months old through Kindergarten entry.
-
Referrals: Connections with other community agencies are offered.
-
Additional Activities and Resources: Various other activities and resources are available at times.
How Can You Get Involved?
There are so many ways to participate in PAT! Whether you can lend a hand at events, join a committee, or share your ideas, we welcome all levels of involvement. Here are just a few ways to contribute:
